Eleanor was born in Spokane, Washington. As a young child she moved to many interesting areas of the country, including Fairbanks, Alaska. Her life changed forever when she met her husband Richard in middle school. They married when Eleanor graduated high school.

Eleanor and Richard ’s marriage produced five children, including two sets of twins. Once her kids were all in school, Eleanor returned to her education and became a registered nurse. Most of her early nursing was done in an intensive care unit. Always one to seek a challenge, she returned to school and became a nurse practitioner.

Eleanor and Richard both retired in their fifty’s and then hit the road. They traveled to all parts of the United States in their motor home. After nearly five years of nomad living, they decided to settle in their Ventura home. Eleanor learned how to play the harp, served on a Grand Jury, volunteered at a hospice and started her long Red Cross volunteer career.

In her 15 years of Red Cross volunteering, Eleanor rose to disaster services leadership duties. She was active in the local and national Red Cross programs. Eleanor was called to many disasters, providing essential services and training to other caregivers. She received national recognition for her contributions (Anne Magnuson Award).

Eleanor’s husband Richard passed away several years ago. Since then, she has traveled with her children, took up walking and binge-watching Survivor. She moved to the Ventura Townehouse to be more active and also to be spoiled by having someone cook and clean for her.
