Exercise with “MR FITNESS” Frank Jackson

We know many residents are happy to have our exercise classes up and running again. The good news is Frank will reopen the gym this month. For our new residents who have not yet met Frank, we’d like to share a little about him. (Note: Picture of Frank with a resident in the gym was taken pre-pandemic.)

Introducing Frank Jackson “Mr. Fitness” Personal Trainer and Exercise Class Guru.

We are privileged to have Frank here at the Townehouse. He has served as our personal fitness trainer for over 35 years! Frank was born in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1953 to Mose and Catherine Jackson. During Frank’s formative years, his father was stationed in London, England, in the US Air Force. Later he transferred to Oxnard Air Force base, bringing his family with him.

Excercise classes - socially distanced!

Frank met his wife Debra while attending Port Hueneme High School. During his high school and college years, Frank was a star athlete in football and track. He went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in physical education at Oregon State University. He secured a job as a P.E. teacher for 4 years in a high school in San Jose. Frank moved to Ventura in 1979 and became the senior fitness instructor at the Ventura Unified School District. He has three children, two boys and one girl; he is also a proud grandfather of five grandchildren.

You will find Frank every morning at 9:00 am setting up the chairs and getting ready for the first exercise class on the 7th floor in the Vista Room. Come early to reserve your seat as many residents will tell you Frank’s scheduled exercise routine with personal humor is a great way to start your day.

When Frank is not conducting his daily exercise class, you will find him in the gym giving assistance to residents while using the gym machines. If you have not checked out our gym on the lower level, come down and meet Frank. He will give you a guided tour on Mon thru Friday, 11:00 am thru 1:00 pm or if you are a morning person, you will find him in the gym at 6:00 am till 8:00 am. See you there!

Remember to always wear your mask while staying six feet apart. A continuous cleaning schedule of the gym equipment is now in motion.

Our Happy Residents

My grandmother lives at the Ventura Townehouse and I feel confident that she is in good hands. They get her to her appointments and provide any aftercare that she may need. Everyone there is friendly and like family. I feel like I’m at home when I go there to visit her and eat with her in the dining room.

Recently, I visited my Mom from Chicago. Each day I offered to take us out and about in Ventura. We found ourselves having such an enjoyable time at the Townehouse we didn’t leave. The dining room was so lovey to enjoy with her friends. Patios welcoming and the activities kept us busy. We laughed and had fun all day! Thank you everyone for making me feel at home and making my visit special. It’s always hard to leave my mom. But not as hard when I know she is so happy! Until my next visit!

Staff is very helpful and always concerned about my Mother’s needs, the interior and grounds maintenance is exceptional. Dining provides healthy menus to choose from. Front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. Best decision we ever made was bringing my mom here.
