Introducing George and Ellie Duncan

Posted on: February 7, 2024

George grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and joined the Air Force where he was stationed on Cape Cod. Ellie was born and raised in Woburn, Massachusetts. Between her sophomore year and junior years of college Ellie worked on Cape Cod.

Then due to a strange parking brake, Ellie met George. Two years later, they were married. In the year their first child was born, Ellie insisted that George leave the Air Force and go to college. Three years later, now with three children, George graduated and the family of five moved to Connecticut.

Seven years later, the family of nine moved to California. George started a plastics extrusion company and 23 years later sold it to his son Robert and became his employee. Robert sold the company to a Fortune 500 Company and retired. George worked five more years and retired in 2023.

In the meantime, Ellie earned two master’s degrees becoming both a Reading Specialist and an inner-city School Principal. After turning around a failing Parochial School in Santa Ana, California, she retired. They moved into Ventura Townehouse in December 2023. Ellie and George are enjoying their retirement at the Townehouse, they are making new friends and enjoying many of the activities.

  • My grandmother lives at the Ventura Townehouse and I feel confident that she is in good hands. They get her to her appointments and provide any aftercare that she may need. Everyone there is friendly and like family. I feel like I’m at home when I go there to visit her and eat with her in the dining room.

  • Recently, I visited my Mom from Chicago. Each day I offered to take us out and about in Ventura. We found ourselves having such an enjoyable time at the Townehouse we didn’t leave. The dining room was so lovey to enjoy with her friends. Patios welcoming and the activities kept us busy. We laughed and had fun all day! Thank you everyone for making me feel at home and making my visit special. It’s always hard to leave my mom. But not as hard when I know she is so happy! Until my next visit!
