Bobbi was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and raised her children in Dana Point, CA, before moving to Ojai. After 24 years in Ojai, she moved to the Ventura Townehouse in early October 2025.
Bobbi began her art training as the result of being a bored 12-year-old. Her father took her to his painting class to keep her busy and out of her mother’s way. The moment the teacher put a piece of charcoal in her hand, her passion for art began. She ultimately found pastels as her preferred media and was on the board of the Ventura County Creative Artists.
Initially, she studied scientific illustration at UCLA and ultimately got a degree in graphic design. She owned Balderman Creative Services, serving mid-to large-size corporate clients, and won numerous local, national and international design awards. She also taught classes in graphic design and business for creatives at the college level and wrote a book, “The Ultimate Guide to Purchasing Website, Video, Print and other Creative Services.” She also ran a youth media agency for the non-profit Ojai Valley Youth Foundation, teaching teens to use traditional marketing techniques to improve the health of communities.
Retired from the business and teaching worlds, Bobbi turned her energy to painting. She also volunteered at the Ojai Valley Family Shelter and as an Art Commissioner for the City of Ojai.
As a result of Bobbi’s love of the outdoors, she spent a lot of her time hiking in the local mountains and racing on sailboats. She has also travelled extensively, always seeking a new adventure.
She looks forward to the next phase of her journey, living at the Townehouse and meeting new people.
