Lifestyle, Care & Support Options at Ventura Townehouse
Independent living is about enjoying retirement in a community of seniors. Seniors will generally live in fully furnished apartments, suites, condos, or townhomes, depending on the specific community, and will often enjoy access to chefs and social activities in the community. Residents of independent living generally will not request many of the services that an assisted living resident receives. A good candidate for independent living is someone who can live alone comfortably, but will be happier, have more fun, and enjoy their retirement more in a community of seniors like themselves.
Like other categories of senior care, independent living may be referred to as retirement communities, 55+ communities, and senior living. Because this range of senior care is somewhat less specific than assisted living about what is included, but most senior care establishments with that present themselves as any of these things, or in some cases retirement villages, senior apartments, or senior living communities, are generally describing themselves as a community of seniors with private residences with some common areas for dining, meetings, and other basic amenities.
At Ventura Townehouse, members of our independent living program receive dining services, housekeeping, activities, and other common amenities.
Assisted Living is about making life easier. This lets residents do what makes them happy, shop, travel, and enjoy their retirement, but we help out by cooking meals, providing housekeeping, grooming, helping with transportation, and anything else they decide they’d like help with. There are many communities that are designed for seniors, and they may operate under a variety of names like 55+ communities, senior apartments, senior care homes, and other similar designations. If you’re searching for assisted living options for a family member, the various names and titles can make the process of identifying place which suits your needs difficult. There’s dozens of ways people reference the broad industry of senior care. Some titles may describe the same service or living arrangement, while other titles describe distinctly different services and living arrangements. A large part of this can be attributed to the fact that different US states have different official designations for the same type of senior care service or senior care community.
For example, in one region of the country an assisted living community may be officially referred to as a personal care home or assisted care community, while another area may in fact use the term assisted living community. All three of these titles are essentially describing the same situation, which is a community, collection of homes, or other living arrangement designed for seniors who don’t require full-time nursing care, but do benefit from some everyday help with cooking, cleaning, and other light assistance. Because the specific needs of each individual vary in any senior care situation, the exact assistance that is provided can be a little bit different for each person living there, with some residents requesting more or less assistance than other residents. Although each assisted living resident at Ventura Townehouse has a care program designed to suit their specific requests, most assisted living residents will generally receive a similar regimen of light assistance with cleaning, meals, and transportation, while maintaining a free agenda which allows them to spend time on the activities, projects, or events that they enjoy most. Because assisted living lets seniors do what they enjoy without having to be distracted by housework, chores, or daily errands, it tends to be a very popular senior care option.
It’s natural for a significant amount of seniors to develop memory issues in their retirement. This an area of senior care where each resident’s needs are genuinely unique, and we care for residents experiencing mild cognitive impairment, common memory loss problems, alzheimer’s disease, and dementia. Because memory loss issues are a common problem experienced by seniors, some senior care communities have memory care programs available as part of their assisted living program. Our memory care involves all the services included in our assisted living program as well as additional personal care to ensure that each resident is comfortable. Part of what makes Ventura Townehouse a great option for this kind of care is our extensive Alzheimer’s focused activity program and entertainment schedule. We understand this is a delicate area of senior care and our proven model genuinely helps residents to minimize the challenge of memory loss and maximize happiness and comfort.
My grandmother lives at the Ventura Townehouse and I feel confident that she is in good hands. They get her to her appointments and provide any aftercare that she may need. Everyone there is friendly and like family. I feel like I’m at home when I go there to visit her and eat with her in the dining room.
Recently, I visited my Mom from Chicago. Each day I offered to take us out and about in Ventura. We found ourselves having such an enjoyable time at the Townehouse we didn’t leave. The dining room was so lovey to enjoy with her friends. Patios welcoming and the activities kept us busy. We laughed and had fun all day! Thank you everyone for making me feel at home and making my visit special. It’s always hard to leave my mom. But not as hard when I know she is so happy! Until my next visit!
Staff is very helpful and always concerned about my Mother’s needs, the interior and grounds maintenance is exceptional. Dining provides healthy menus to choose from. Front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. Best decision we ever made was bringing my mom here.
