Retirement is a period where older adults take the time to travel and explore. We love hearing about our resident’s travels and seeing them take time to vacation with family and loved ones. In 2019 there are nearly limitless options for traveling, from preplanned group vacations, to very casual and low key getaways. Whether the trip is domestic, continental, or overseas, there is an array of travel packages and travel planning services to help people of nearly any age, budget, and preferences find the perfect travel experience. We want to highlight a few key ways to make the most of retirement and vacation in new places.
Many travel agencies sell tickets in bulk. You can organize a trip with family and friends and buy tickets at a reduced cost, or you can join in on a group purchase even if you’re traveling alone. This lets you travel with people from your area and have access to other Americans while still enjoying the peace and independence of traveling alone. Group trips can make costly travels to far off locations more accessible for your budget.
Did you know many travel agencies and retailers provide discounts to seniors? These can add up to huge savings depending on who you buy your tickets through and where you’re traveling. If you hold certain kinds of credit cards or bank accounts, you can be eligible for even more savings. There are usually certain terms and conditions to meet, but if you keep an eye on these offers you can get tickets and accommodations and greatly reduced prices.
Airbnb is the modern, more mature alternative to hostels. Hostels are popular among younger travelers for their super low prices and semi-private accomodations. Airbnb is an open system where people offer up a room, apartment, or even an entire private home. The nightly rates are generally much lower than hotels, and in some cases the accommodations are stunning. This is a way to really experience the charm of your travel locale in way that is not too touristy, and save money.
We love hearing about our residents travels and generally seeing seniors relish their retirement. We’re also committed to creating the best senior living and assisted living experience in Ventura County. If you’re curious about our community or are exploring senior living accommodations for yourself or a loved one, please:
My grandmother lives at the Ventura Townehouse and I feel confident that she is in good hands. They get her to her appointments and provide any aftercare that she may need. Everyone there is friendly and like family. I feel like I’m at home when I go there to visit her and eat with her in the dining room.
Recently, I visited my Mom from Chicago. Each day I offered to take us out and about in Ventura. We found ourselves having such an enjoyable time at the Townehouse we didn’t leave. The dining room was so lovey to enjoy with her friends. Patios welcoming and the activities kept us busy. We laughed and had fun all day! Thank you everyone for making me feel at home and making my visit special. It’s always hard to leave my mom. But not as hard when I know she is so happy! Until my next visit!
Staff is very helpful and always concerned about my Mother’s needs, the interior and grounds maintenance is exceptional. Dining provides healthy menus to choose from. Front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. Best decision we ever made was bringing my mom here.
